Purpose

The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The members of St. Luke's UMW have worked hard through the years to achieve our purpose.  The original "Woman's Society of Christian Service" was organized on December 8, 1941 with Mrs. Hazel Mabie as it's first president.  Early mission projects included helping the American Red Cross and the wartime U.S.O.  Current projects include assisting Kingdom House, Epworth and Metro Ministry.  Wherever there has been a need in the church the women have been there, digging into their purses to fund the projects and rolling up their sleeves to get the work done.

General Meetings:  First Monday of the month.  Dinner with the United Methodist Men at 6:00 p.m. with program and business meeting at 7:00 p.m.  Programming includes the annual pledge service in October, special Christmas program and party in December, and Easter Salad Supper and devotion.  ALL women of the church are invited to join with us for fellowship and learning.

Circle Meetings:  Esther Circle meets the second Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Mission Project:  St. Luke's Re-Sell-It Shop
