Among my favorite possessions is a coffee mug that a
friend gifted me with some years
ago. Now
this is not an ordinary everyday coffee mug, but one adorned with the
picture of a cat s-l-o-w-l-y sliding down the cup - claws unfurled —
leaving l-o-n-g claw marks. The
inscription reads:
"EVERYTHING I EVER LET GO OF HAD CLAW MARKS
ALL OVER
IT."
It is a
difficult thing, this letting go ... of programs I have nurtured, of the
Wednesday morning and Wednesday evening studies, of my "Noah's Ark"
office, of the choir and solo voices I so like to hear, of the now
generation and the next generation, of moments "with"
children of God and just plain good folk.
As to CLAW
MARKS...while not intended, I am sure that I have left some along the
way. I ask
forgiveness from all and any who have experienced my claws.
Finally,
Duane joins me in thanking you for sharing these past nine years of
ministry with us. We wish you all the joy, peace, and happiness God
offers and would appreciate hearing only the wonderful things that will
surely be happening at St. James UMC.
Blessings,
