St. James Community Food Pantry

United Methodist Church

Food Pantry needs for the month of November
The St. James Food Pantry will be providing holiday meals to approximately 40 families. We would appreciate any of the following items: Turkeys, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, peas, carrots, and cranberry sauce

If you can help supply some of these items, please let me know, or drop off donations in the designated boxes and baskets in the parlor or foyer. Everything for Thanksgiving needs to be here at church on or before Sunday, November 22nd.

Thank-you.

The following article was written by Donna Johnson.

"I would like to introduce myself as the new Director of the St. James Community Food Pantry. I have been training over the summer with Denise Greenleaf, who has served as Director for the last 20 years. She will truly be missed by all that have had the pleasure of working with her. Her dedication and perseverance has created and maintained one of the “best food pantries”, in our community! I have been trained by Denise for the last six weeks, to smoothly transition into her position. It will be hard to replace such a devoted servant, but I will do my best to continue with this vital ministry…Please remember to save the date of Sept 13th, 2009 (Rally Sunday) after service to recognize and celebrate Denise’s 20 years of service with finger food and light refreshments. THANK-YOU DENISE!!!!

Each month I will include in the “News From the Pantry” a short “wish list” of items that will help keep our pantry open and stocked. If everyone could bring in just one donation a month, we can make a real difference in our neighbors’ lives!

As of September 1st, 2009 the Pantry will be open on Tuesdays from 9:30-12:00.

We have many volunteers who dedicate their time to working at the pantry, but I would like to extend and invitation to anyone who has a few hours once a month to help. On the job training is provided and you’ll feel great that you did it!!

I can be reached at the new Food Pantry cell phone at 546-8379.

Thank-you in advance for your support and prayers…. Donna Johnson"
