United Methodist Youth and Friends (UMYF)
The St. James United Methodist
Youth Fellowship, the UMYF, started four years ago with four regular
members and two teachers. Today it is sixteen strong with the same
teaching staff; we hope to continue to grow with excitement!
We meet every Sunday
during Sunday school hours (9:30 – 10:45 am). We welcome you to join us
in our classroom for fun, faith, and fabulous friendships. Our youth
group plans social outings, charity events, and Christian based lessons.
The UMYF sets up their own
volunteer agenda, while they plan and follow through with self made
projects. Over the past few years, the UMYF has held numerous car
washes, baked for the food pantry, volunteered at the animal shelter,
held fundraisers to buy cleaning projects for all the families at the
food pantry, and taken part in numerous lock-ins to foster friendship
and fun within our community.
The UMYF has an amazing
spirit and excitement for learning, outreach, and friendship in our
faith community. This year they are planning many exciting
events as a group. We plan to match all of last year’s goals and add
more projects to the calendar. We encourage all of you to visit us,
share in our enthusiasm an excitement toward Faith and Friendship within
St. James family and beyond!
All middle school
and high school students are welcome to join us each Sunday, as we follow the path
of Christ’s teachings to better ourselves and our community one day at a
time! Please join us, try it out! We have an open door policy for
friends and family attendance. We look forward to meeting you.
Please feel
free to contact us if you have any questions.

Youth Group Mission Project
The Youth Group is
saving aluminum cans for Mission Projects and Youth Trips. You can crush
if you wish. If you decide to help save cans, please rinse them and dry
them out as they will be sitting in the basement of the church and we
don’t want ants. There is a drop box for the cans in the Fellowship
Hall at St. James Church. Any questions please feel free to call
Lindsey Finken at 424-1965. We are also looking for people with either
trailers or pickup trucks who can drive us once a month to deliver the
cans to Manchester for recycling. Please begin saving your Shaws
receipts we will explain this later in the month. |
