Music at St. James United Methodist Church is a ministry to the congregation, and a ministry to the participants. It is a vibrant program which offers a wide variety of styles and many forms of expression. We offer traditional music, classical, contemporary, gospel and some jazz. We offer music for all ages through Children's Choir, Youth Choir, Adult Choir, Handbells, Orchestra, Flute Choir and special small groups. Van service is available for children and youth programs. We present many special productions, even some theatrical. Individuals are also encouraged to share their talent through solos. St. James is a church that loves and appreciates their music!!
MUSIC SCHEDULE FOR 2008
Handbells Tuesday 5:30pm-6:30pm
Ten to twelve people who are willing to commit to weekly rehearsal, can read and count music.
Angel (Children's) Choir Monday following school-2:30pm
Children age 4 to grade 5, van service is available to Northeast, Liberty and Edison.
Orchestra Wednesday 5:45pm-6:15pm
Inter-generational, anyone who plays an instrument and would like to present music to the congregation usually once a month. Attendance at rehearsal is a requirement for performance.
Choir Wednesday 7:00pm-8:00pm
Inter-generational people who enjoy singing SATB music. The choir sings each Sunday with the exception of contemporary Sunday.
Bubbling Joy Sunday on the 4th floor 9:50am
Children grades 6-8 who wish to sing and play instruments. We occasionally present theatrical performances.
