St. James Young Adult Ministry

When Do We Meet?
Young Adults meets every 2nd and 4th Sunday at 6 p.m.  Often we meet in the Upper Room at the East Location, and there are times when we get together at someone’s home for a party, game night, or BBQ. To contact us, please send an email to

What Do We Do?
Our night typically stars with catching up, getting to know new people, and eating. Sometimes we bring our own dinner, sometimes we have a potluck, and sometimes we have a feast!  From there we look at a single chapter in the Bible and discuss it. If it’s available, we’ll watch a clip of the chapter on video or YouTube. No one is a Biblical scholar here. We’re mostly life scholars looking at the Bible for relevance and direction (and often with questions too).

We have also arranged some field trips, game nights, BBQs, and sporting event parties.  As the group grows, many have mentioned doing more mission work in the community as well.

Who Usually Comes?
A young adult is typically someone who is at least in his/her later college years and who has not yet sent their children off to pre-school. Exceptions to this are always the rule, but this window helps us make “common conversation” possible. You don’t have to be a member, and attending a worship service is not a requirement. Some are single, some are married, some are divorced, all are dynamic people with good stories. Some of us grew up in the church and for some of us, church is a pretty new thing in our lives.

What’s the Point?
In a moment’s notice, WE will be the church that the rest of the world knows. But often our faith feels and looks a little different from that of our parents’ faith.  So we get together to start our own faith journeys, develop our own understanding of scripture, and spend time with people experiencing the same adventures and struggles in life.  We want to grow in faith and in community with other young adults — and have fun too!
