Music at St James
St James East Music Ministries
Chancel Choir
The St. James Chancel Choir rehearses every Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 at St James East in the choir room. We sing during the 9:45 traditional service at “East” every Sunday from Labor Day through Memorial Day. We also sing for the 815 traditional service the first and fourth Sunday of every month. The choir consists of 20+ singers of varying skill levels and sings both classic and contemporary choral anthems and prayer responses weekly, The choir also presents a Christmas Cantata or other special presentation in December each year. We enjoy singing and praying together, plus we host an Annual “Cookie Walk” every December as our choir fund raiser. No audition required to join. E-mail Director of Music, Laura Petry.
Cherub Choir
The St James East Cherub Choir is a children's choir under the direction of Nancy Roorda. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings after the 9:45 a.m. service.
Handbell Choir
The St James Handbell Choir is under the direction of Kathy Liebenguth and rehearses every Thursday evening at 7 pm in the sanctuary. The Handbells ring in all three St James East services once a month usually on the third Sunday of the month.
Everyone 4th grade and up is welcomed to join us. Experience is not required to join. If you can count to 4 and know your colors, you can play handbells too! Contact Kathy Liebenguth for more information,
Praise Team
The “East” Praise team participates in the St. James East Contemporary Service at 11:15 am on Sunday mornings. We lead the congregation in singing Contemporary Christian Top 40 music by artists such as Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, Paul Baloche, and Darlene Zscheche. The band consists of keyboard, guitars, bass, and percussion. We typically use 2-6 singers and a worship leader. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. James East. New participants are always welcome!
St James West Music Ministries
Praise Team
The “West” Praise team leads the St. James West Worship Service at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. We lead the congregation in singing a combination of Contemporary Christian Top 40 music and traditional hymns arranged for the praise band. The band consists of keyboard, guitars, bass, and percussion. We typically use 2-6 singers. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. James East. New participants are always welcome!

West Mighty Rockers
The St James West children's choir once or twice a month at the 9:30 a.m. service. Rehearsals are during Sunday School. Contact Tess Sikes for more information.
