Stanhope United Methodist Church

-Who We Are and What We Value

Who we are:

While located in the town of Netcong, New Jersey, the Stanhope United Methodist Church serves people in a much broader community that covers portions of Sussex, Warren, and Morris Counties.

We are a chartered United Methodist Church subject to the disciplines of this denomination. We celebrate our membership in the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, which has been identified as one of the most racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse Annual Conferences in the United States.

We accept Faith Development as our primary task and mission. Through our organization, resources, programs and activities, we strive to help all people grow in their relationship with God and one another through Jesus Christ.

The doors to our church are open to all people, no matter who they are, what their church relationship, or where they are in their spiritual journey. Everyone who knocks will be welcomed warmly, nourished in spirit, and supported in good times and bad.

What Do We Value?

We Value:

  • The word of God as recorded in the Bible.
We place the Bible at the center of all Church activities. We view it as a primary resource for daily living and study it as a guide for all that we do.
  • The diversity of our congregation and the surrounding community.
We maintain an environment that values diversity and respects individual differences. We respect the dignity of every person and will not tolerate discrimination or hurtful behavior.
  • The power of prayer.
We believe in the power of prayer. We call on God for help in times of trouble and offer thanksgiving in times of happiness and joy.
  • The energy, enthusiasm, talent and commitment of the laity.
We are committed to the "ministry of all believers". We seek to equip persons of all ages for the ministry to which God is calling them, especially our children and youth.
  • The effectiveness of small group ministry.

What Is Our Mission Statement?

We are a community of faith, called by God to nurture and strengthen our relationship with God and all God’s people through Jesus Christ.
