gospel chorus, soloists, instrumentals etc.)
- Seasonal events
- Nursery and childcare are
provided for all services.
Special Services
We hold special services throughout the year: 9/11 Remembrance Service,
Thanksgiving Service, Maundy (Holy) Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve,
etc. Some of these services are
ecumenical services done in partnership with neighboring churches. Check
with the church office (973) 347-0247 for upcoming dates.
Good Friday
Cross Walk
A tradition for many years is the noon Good Friday Cross Walk. A cross is carried from the First
Presbyterian Church of Stanhope to Stanhope
United Methodist
Church (Netcong) and on
to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Netcong. Anyone is welcomed to join in the walk. During the walk, special music and readings
are heard to remind the walkers of Jesus and the events that happened that day. The walk lasts about one hour.
Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service
Each
year we join St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church and the First Presbyterian
Church of Stanhope for an ecumenical Thanksgiving service. One church plays host to the others and the pastors
share in presenting the service. A
combined choir provides the music.
