THE SPURGEON OUTLOOK -- NOVEMBER, 2009
PETS & POTPOURRI PAGE

F.Y.I…..
There is a new SAPD website called the Citizen Alert Network: http://www.ci.santa-ana.ca.us/pd/citizenalertnetwork.asp. It allows you to sign up to receive alerts on your cell phone or your email, or to report suspicious activity. It also allows you to choose which areas you wish to receive alerts from.

International Day of Climate Action
On Saturday, October 24, 2009, Karen & Katie Shultz, along with many others, made history by being part of one of the largest events in the world...ever! There were 5,245 events in 181 countries! According to 350.org, there are over 20,417 photos! For a video clip, the 350 aerial photos, and various photos taken through the day at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center, visit the www:/ocice.org website, or go to the www:/350.org website for international photos of events all over the world. Remember Oct 24 next year!

The Western Service Workers Association hosts educational sessions on loan modifications with a volunteer professional. These are free of charge, to provide advice and help people understand the process. There are some local agencies that do the actual process all the way through, and do not cost anything. WSW’s address is 1717 N. Bush St., Santa Ana, 92706. Call 714-835-9961 to ask about the loan modification program, and mention Spurgeon UMC when you call.

YWCA Project: My Sister Joanie’s Purses
This is an ongoing outreach project. You may bring your donations of new or gently used medium to large purses to the collection box in the church office labeled “YWCA”. These purses help homeless women at the local YWCA shelter feel more prepared as they go out and find employment. For further info, please call Karen Shultz.

Thank You, Lord, for my tasty chicken tidbits, a nice warm bed & my comfy pillow, and for my human who loves me!......Amen.
Could you turn on the tv so I can watch Animal Planet while you're at work, please?
Oh, I almost forgot...these are some of my Favorite Haikus:
Seeking solitude
I am locked in the closet.
For once I need you.
Tiny can, dumped in
Plastic bowl. Presentation,
One star; service: none.
Am I in your way?
You seem to have it backwards:
This pillow's taken.
