![]() THE PASTOR'S PAGE -- OCTOBER, 2008 By Rev. Melissa J. Rusler With Jesus Christ
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness and into his marvelous light.”
Now for the reasons for volunteering: First, God has called us all to be part of the royal priesthood (read 1 Peter 2), and you really do make a difference. What you do matters in the life of this congregation and to those whom God has called to serve. Another good reason to participate in ministry by volunteering is that you have a spiritual gift, special talent or some expertise that no one else may have. In addition, there are some other benefits. Working with others provides a unique opportunity for fellowship. Not to mention that you will have the chance to grow as you learn from others and gain proficiency in working with others. Please join me in praying for God’s leading in each of our lives, showing us how each one of us can best serve Him both within and outside of the church. In so doing, I believe that God will give us the insight that we need to volunteer and serve in ministry. Let me know what you discover.
Pastor Melissa
