South Avenue United Methodist Church is located in the heart of Wilkinsburg, east of Pittsburgh, just off of I-376 (the Parkway East) between Monroeville and Squirrel Hill. Wilkinsburg is also east of East Liberty on Penn Avenue.

In Wilkinsburg, the church is situated between Ross Avenue and South Avenue, which both run parallel to Penn Avenue, the main street through the business district of Wilkinsburg. The church is located on South Avenue between the cross-streets of Wood Street and Center Street. Large parking lots are adjacent to the church building; parking is free on Saturday and Sunday in those lots.

From Downtown Pittsburgh

• Take I-376 (the Parkway East) through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.
• Take the Wilkinsburg exit and continue onto Ardmore Blvd.
• Before the third light, enter the center lane. After light remain in left lane and turn left onto South Avenue (there is a sign for SAUMC at that intersection).
• Proceed through one light and two stop signs. The church is on the right-hand side and is surrounded by parking lots.

From Oakland

• Take Forbes Avenue through Oakland and Squirrel Hill.
• Turn left onto South Braddock Avenue.
• Turn right onto Brashear Avenue, which becomes South Avenue.
• Pass under the East Busway and continue for two blocks. The church is on the left-hand side and is surrounded by parking lots.

From East Liberty

• Go east on Penn Avenue.
• After passing McDonalds on the right, turn right onto Pennwood Avenue, then left on South Avenue.
• Continue on South Avenue for three blocks. The church on the left-hand side and is surrounded by parking lots.

From the East ( Monroeville)

• Take I-376 (the Parkway) toward Pittsburgh.
• Take the Wilkinsburg exit and continue onto Ardmore Blvd.
• Before the third light, enter the center lane. After light remain in left lane and then turn left onto South Avenue (there is a sign for SAUMC at that intersection).

From the North

• Take I-279 South to the East Ohio Street exit.
• Follow the signs to Route 28 and turn left onto Route 28.
• Continue on Route 28 to the Highland Park Bridge exit.
• Take the Highland Park Bridge (Rt. 8 South) exit, and get into the left-hand lane on the bridge to go east on Allegheny River Blvd.
• On Allegheny River Blvd., take the first right onto Washington Blvd.
• Continue on Washington Blvd., which becomes Fifth Avenue.
• Turn left onto Penn Avenue.
• After passing McDonalds on the right, turn right onto Pennwood Avenue, then left on South Avenue.
• Continue on South Avenue for three blocks. The church on the left-hand side and is surrounded by parking lots.

Parking

South Avenue United Methodist Church is surrounded by parking lots and street parking. Parking on Saturday and Sunday is free.

Bus Transportation

Wilkinsburg and the church are located along the main bus thoroughfare between Downtown and the eastern suburbs. The East Busway (EBA) ends in Wilkinsburg and is only three blocks from the church. Many buses also go through Wilkinsburg on South Avenue, including the 61A, 61B, 67A, 68B, 69A, 71C, 79A, 79B, and 81B. For specific bus information, call PAT Customer Service at 412.442.2000.
