Volunteers In Mission

Two teams of volunteers traveled to Mississippi in January 2008 to help with the Mississippi Disaster Relief following hurricane Katrina. Roy McCarthy and Sandy Hall were co-leaders of the first team of 25 during the week of January 6 - 12. Sandy Hall and Al Walker of the Rose UMC were co-leaders of the second team of 20 volunteers during the week of January 12 - 19. Both teams were based at Camp Hope at the Vancleave UMC in Vancleave, MS, where they received their work assignments. The teams diligently raised funds for these trips. The money raised helped to buy building supplies, support the Vancleave UMC in carrying on this ministry (their staff feeds an average of 50 volunteers daily) and paid for transportation of the workers between Camp Hope and their work sites in Pascagoula, Moss Point and Gautier, MS.
