Jan. 2008 VIM Trip

Travel Day (Saturday, Jan. 12)

Today is a day to say "goodbye" to Team One and "hello" to Team Two!  Pete, Anne, Gene, Betsy and Marie took off for Florida.  Roy, Bill, Bud, Brian, Dylan and Tyler started out for New York.  Mary Ann, Paul, Gordon, Jackie, Jill, Savannah, Katie, Colleen, Rick, Jeff, Terri and Jessi left from the Gulfport airport to fly to Atlanta and then Rochester.  Lots of hugs ... it's hard to say goodbye to all our new friends!

Bye Roy and Bill!!!

Team Two arrived in two groups - one flew in to the Gulfport airport, and the second drove from New York, arriving around 4 p.m. at Vancleave UMC.

Shortly after the flying crew arrived, the homeward bound flyers left for a short sight-seeing trip to Biloxi, stopping to view the new Biloxi/Ocean Springs bridge, and also the Katrina Memorial in Biloxi.  Then it was on to the airport to start their flight back to Rochester.
Team Two has settled into Camp Hope, having experienced their first delicious home-cooked meal prepared by the Vancleave UMC volunteers.  After evening devotions Lois led orientation and sent the team off to bed with "May your head rest lightly on your pillow, and your snores be silent!"

We will attend morning service at the Mt. Pleasant UMC, then head off for the Dauphine Island Estuarium.  Sweet dreams!
