Meet our Pastor, Joey Hatchell

Joey grew up in the low country of South Carolina, Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach to be exact. Joey was born in Florence, SC, graduated from high school in Myrtle Beach, attended Newberry College and then entered the U.S. Army. Joey has attended Coastal Carolina University, Lee University, and Gammon Seminary where he graduated with his Master of Divinity.

He has served at Field's Chapel UMC in Cherokee County, St. Philip UMC in Cobb County, and presently serving his sixth year at Faith United Methodist Church in Smyrna in Cobb County Georgia.

Joey is married to the Rev. Barbara Hatchell who is the Associate Pastor at Smyrna First UMC. They are a second career clergy-couple with 15 years of service in the North Georgia Conference. They have a blended family of 5 adult children and 5 grandchildren who live as far a way as L.A., California, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina, Buckhead, and Dacula, Georgia.

Joey has special interests in Bible Study, the acts of prayer and missions and his hobbies include reading, golf, and anything to do with the beach; especially, seafood!
