Smithville First United Methodist Church Preschool

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The First United Methodist Church Preschool is an outreach ministry that teaches and cares for preschool aged children of our church members and of the community.

Our program includes age appropriate learning, play, music and socialization in a Christian environment.  It has been established to supplement the home guidance of preschool children with experiences that will enrich them mentally, emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The Preschool has the following teaching goals and objectives:

1. To develop trust in authority figures other than parents.

2. To develop a sense of belonging to a group.

3. To expand the children's world through exploration and experimentation.

4. To build a background of experiences to make kindergarten more meaningful.

5. To nurture spiritual growth.

6. To develop a sense of sharing with others.

7. To provide a loving and caring environment where children may find learning exciting and nonrestrictive.
