2009 Reading Program Books About "Change" - to Start a New Year

The Gift of Change - Spiritual Guidance for a Radically New Life by Marianne Williamson. Spiritual Growth. This honest and uplifting book offers spiritual wisdom to help people of all ages navigate life's significant transitions. Far from being something to fear and avoid, Williamson says, every change - even the most difficult and painful - gives us an opportunity to receive the miraculous gift of personal transformation. (Available in Large Print)

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - An Easy Household Guide by Nicky Scott. Social Action. This companion to Energy is an easy to use guide answering all of your recycling questions. Its A-Z listing of everyday household items shows you how to recycle most of your unwanted things, do your bit for the planet, and maybe make a little money. Packed with ideas to cut consumption and reduce trash, it's an invaluable guide for anyone who wants to stop the Earth from going to waste

Three Cups of Tea - One Man's Mission to Promote Peace - One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. Education for Mission. In 1993 mountaineer Greg Mortenson drifted into an impoverished Pakistan village in the Karakoram mountains. Moved by the inhabitant's kindness, he promised to return and build a school. Three Cups of Tea is the story of that promise and its extraordinary outcome. Over the next decade Mortenson built not just one but fifty-five schools - especially for girls. His story is at once a riveting adventure and a testament to the power of the humanitarian spirit. (Available in Large Print)

Who Stole My Church?- What to Do When the Church You Love Tries to Enter the 21st Century by Gordon MacDonald. Nurturing for Community. A storm hits a small New England town, but the pelting rain can't keep a small group of church members from gathering to discuss issues that have lately been brewing beneath the surface of their congregation. "Who Stole My Church" is a fictional story that reflects the all-too-real situation of many church communities today, where loyal and long-standing members can feel pushed aside by the new demands of evangelism in the 21st century.
