UMCOR Relief Kits

In 2007, the Cal - Nev Conference UMW will conduct a campaign for Health Kits and School Kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).  A report of the number and type of Kits your unit has shipped to the UMCOR Sager Brown Depot should be brought to the District Annual Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 6th, 2007.

Health kits can be used as learning tools in literacy, nutrition, and cooking classes.  They are also distributed to people who understand personal hygiene buy have limited resources.  When people gain basic means and understanding of personal hygiene, their overall health improves.

School Kits - In some countries, children don't have books or school supplies. Many have no schoolrooms; classes are held in inadequate or half-destroyed buildings, tents, or even the open air. School kits may be these children's only educational resources.
