The churches along with the Parish Nurse Ministry helps to provide both spiritual and health needs to the community. The nurse is a health counselor, educator, resource person and advocate. The program has provided monthly programs for the Simpson Seniors, including topics on diabetes, nutrition, foot care, arthritis coping, medication safety, stroke awareness and exercising safely.

If your blue mood doesn’t lift, you may be suffering from clinical depression. Clinical depression is a medical condition that, when left untreated, often becomes worse. Depression can be treated successfully with counseling, medicine or both.
Warning signs of depression include:
Having thoughts of death or suicide. (If you are having thoughts of suicide, call the Suicide Hotline at 216-623-6888).
If you have a number of the above symptoms for most of the day, nearly every day for two or more weeks, you may have a depressive disorder. See your health care provider or a mental health specialist. If you do not know a mental health specialist, your health care provider can refer you to one.
For those of us who are just suffering the winter blues from being indoors for too long, try one of the following remedies:
If I can be of help to you, please let me know. You can leave me a voicemail message at 216-476-4900 x8821 (Don’t push the star key after dialing 8821). You can also leave me a message at the Partnership office at 281-7370.
