My brothers and sisters in Christ,
Greetings! We are so pleased that you
are visiting Simpson on the web.
We are a small historically African
American faith community that will be celebrating its 114th
church anniversary on July 29th of this year. In fact, we
are going to mark that special day with special friends in the ministry,
Rev. Kenneth Moore and the faith community of St. Mark’s UMC, Magothy
Beach in Pasadena.
In many ways, we are just like you and
your faith community. We are a bible believing membership which enjoys
getting involved in community endeavors that help to solve problems: we
feed those who are hungry, help those who are without shelter, and
provide school supplies and clothing to children each August as a part
of our “keeping the faith” initiative. We also collect new blankets in
winter and distribute them to local shelters. And, like you, we are all
aging, but we are faithful Disciples of Christ in our service to the
church, to those who are new among us, and to one another. We observe
the Lord’s Table each Sunday morning, and engage in lively Church School
on Sunday morning before morning worship where we focus on the Word of
God and issues that affect all of us as Christians and as working men
and women. Come. Join with us. Stop worrying about tomorrow and give
God all of the praise for ‘right now.’ ‘Right now’ is all you and I
have, and what a gift!
It is true that you won’t find us if
you just happen to be traveling along the highway. You have to know
where we are or, better still, do like our new friends in ministry do:
come look for us. We are located on Hardy Road which is on the 144West
road in the Lisbon community of Mt. Airy. If you need directions, call
us, we have helped dozens of travelers to find this powerful house of
worship sitting on a hill in Mt Airy.
If there is something that we can do to
make your worship or fellowship time with us enjoyable, please call
ahead and let us know. Simpson is blessed with three generations of men
and women whose ancestors date back to freed slaves to whom Simpson was
given, originally, as a tobacco shack. We are a faith community that is
on fire because of the grace and mercy of God. We love him, and we
thank God for the time you’ve spent on our website.
May God bless and keep you, until we meet again.

McNeil, Pastor
