A Message From Our Pastor

As United Methodists around the globe, who follow the Wesleyan tradition in our Christian life, we believe faith and love can and should be placed into practice. It is through these practices of faith in action and the act of demonstrating Christ’s love in the world we display the creating, redeeming, and sanctifying activity of God in the body of Christ and our local community.

At Simla United Methodist Church we really mean it when we say, “Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Doors!” We may be a small church but we have great big hearts. Come see for yourself. The Holy Spirit is truly present in this place. Come experience God’s grace and love. You will be so glad you did.

In closing I offer this beautiful prayer,

I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee, Exalted for thee or brought low by thee. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. AMEN.

Pastor Gene’s Personal Mission Statement for the body of Christ at Simla:

In Romans 5:1-5 the Word of God says:

“Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us (NRSV).”
