Geoff Posegate began putting his great enthusiasm and passion for preaching
and teaching, for evangelism, for discipleship development and for church
leadership development to work at Sikeston First UMC in June 2005.
Rev. Posegate, originally from Kirkwood, Missouri, graduated from what is now Central Methodist University in 1975 and from Eden Theological Seminary in 1978. He is currently a Doctor of Ministry student at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO.
He has served the following Missouri churches: pastor of Trinity and West Pleasant Valley United Methodist Churches in Bloomfield (1978-1983), pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in Jefferson City (1983-1988), senior pastor of First United Methodist Church of West Plains (1988-2000) and senior pastor of United Methodist Church in Belton, which was renamed and relocated as CrossRoads United Methodist Church (2000-2005).
In 1975, Geoff married Elaine Bennett of Tina, Missouri. She attended Central Methodist for a time and is a graduate of the University of Missouri at St. Louis. She is a geriatric social worker, having most recently served as the social services director for Seasons Health Care, a residential care facility for persons with Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.
Geoff and Elaine have three children, two children-in-law, and a granddaughter. Their daughter, Jennifer Skeeters, teaches first grade. Her husband, Jay, is a juvenile officer. Their daughter, Paige, was born in August of 2006. Jay, Jennifer and Paige live in West Plains, Missouri. Geoff and Elaine's son, Josh, teaches high school social studies and history, and coaches high school soccer. His wife, Cara, teaches marketing and accounting in vo-tech. Josh and Cara live in Marshall, Missouri. Geoff and Elaine's son, Matt, is a junior at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Geoff's hobbies include fishing, river canoeing, running, power walking, reading historical novels, and Civil War history. He is an avid sports fan, with particular loyalties to the St. Louis Cardinals, the University of Missouri Tigers, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
