Sikeston First United Methodist Church
~ Our Facility ~

First United Methodist Church is located at 1307 North Main Street in Sikeston, at a point where two streets (North Kingshighway and U.S. Highway 61) form a "Y".  [For directions, click here.]

The campus features a sanctuary which seats about 500 worshipers in a contemporary setting. The high ceiling accents the tall stained glass windows which filter light on three sides. The windows each have a special theme depicted in the colored glass. The designer states that he made an effort to make the windows provocative and stimulating, and also to hold a mystery that, given a bit of time to observe, think and reflect, the viewer can solve. The sanctuary is used for the  10:15 a.m. traditional worship service.

Across from the sanctuary and its lobby is a beautiful chapel, which seats 125 worshipers. The large stained glass window of a cross with radiating light highlights the chancel area. Our 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening worship services and 8:00 a.m. Sunday worship service are celebrated in the chapel. The chapel is also used for the Wednesday evening worship series, which run for six to eight weeks in the spring and fall.

The facility has two wings extending from the lobby. The east wing, known as the Education wing, contains Sunday school rooms, and the nursery.

The west wing contains the Administrative and Pastors' offices, along with a large multi-purpose room, large kitchen, and two meeting rooms.

Between the two wings on the south end of the church campus is the newest addition, a  20,000-square-foot facility, which was consecrated April 9, 2006, marking the completion of Phase 1 of the church’s building and renovation plan.  This building houses our 10:15 a.m. Living Water Praise Service each Sunday.

The center’s main gathering area is a large multi-purpose room with a stage.  The downstairs area also includes a large catering kitchen.  Upstairs, three classrooms and a walking track add to the versatility of the building. The large sunlit lobby features a unique brick sculpture.

Surrounded by parking, the grounds also include a historic bell from our previous church buildings.

The First United Methodist Church facility is a busy place throughout the week. The church family is currently looking forward to more growth and initiation of the final two phases of the building expansion plans.
