a place to grow
Methodism began as a revival movement within the Church of England in the 1700's. Founded by John Wesley, these small groups, dedicated to sincere Christian discipleship, were called Methodists because they followed a disciplined life of personal holiness: grounded in God's Word, led by God's Spirit, and accountable to a local group of Christians.

At Shiloh, we believe that being Methodists today is about getting back to the spirit of our founder, John Wesley. It means doing whatever it takes to spread the "good news" of God's love and being faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. We are not interested in the preservation of a bureaucracy or an institution. Our goal is not to make Methodists but to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ. |

In addition to being a priest, Wesley was also a professor at Oxford University. Subsequently, Methodism has always been a family of faith where "head and heat go hand in hand." We realize that sometimes people have questions about faith matters. That's okay in our church. Come find your place at Shiloh and bring your doubts and questions along. They're welcome too!
