Applications for Youth/Young Adults Attendance at Annual Conference

Dear Friends:

Applications are now available for youth and young adults to attend Annual Conference this June in Fresno. Youth must be in grades 9-12 (including seniors graduating this June) and young adults are designated as being between the ages of 18 and 30. In order to be a voting delegate to Annual Conference both youth and young adults must be active members of their local churches.

There are 4 voting youth from each district that are chosen by the Conference United Methodist Youth Council. There will also be two alternate voting youth from each district chosen by the UMYC. All other youth whose applications are accepted will be seated as non-voting with the privilege of voice at Annual Conference.

This experience is not for every young person. If they want to learn more about The United Methodist Church, then this experience will certainly enrich that learning. They will housed at the Radission Hotel together and will have several gatherings as youth during the day to discuss matters about ACS and generally to hang out and be kids. (Young adults are on their own for housing).

If you have interested youth or young adults, applications can be found on our website at: www.cnumc.org/acs (press the ACS Primer icon and scroll down the list for downloadable forms).

The Purpose of the United Methodist Youth Organization is to make The United Methodist Church a community of mutual respect and understanding between youth and adults, where influence and worth are not limited by age or experience.

The Mission of the United Methodist Youth Organization is to respond to God's call as Disciples: Here and Now.

The core values of the United Methodist Youth Organization are:

  1. Compassion: Actively listen to issues and concerns of youth.
  2. Advocacy: Affirm and witness to the gifts and graces of youth.
  3. Partnership: Emphasize youth and adult unity in ministry.
  4. Outreach: Inspire youth to commit to meaningful service.
  5. Leadership: Serve as followers of Jesus Christ.

You can't really join, but if you are a United Methodist youth you're already part of a huge network of youth that love God and follow the example of Jesus Christ. And of course, we include the many adults who are partners in ministry with us.

No dues, no sign-up forms. The Youth Organization is a whole bunch of us with a dream that the church is transformed - and we are transformed - when United Methodist youth are disciples - here and now.
