Conference Lay Minister Program ( ClayM) Training Coordinator  

Open to United Methodist clergy and laity with significant local church leadership experience.

Goal:   To design, coordinate, implement and help teach Conference Lay Minister ( CLayM )   training weeks and other work directed by the ClayM Committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote CLayM program.
  • Send out applications, reference forms and brochures (updated and supplied by the CLayM Committee) to CLayM training prospects.
  • Coordinate November and January CLayM training weeks, including
  • Receiving applications
  • Designing the week
  • Securing trainers
  • Arranging for food
  • Copying handouts
  • Teaching approximately half the course modules and facilitating discussions
  • Evaluating training sessions
  • Track assignments of ClayM Pastors and their clergy mentors for the ClayM Committee.
  • Facilitate District Superintendents’ personnel work with CLayM graduates by
  • Meeting individually with each CLayM training participant during his or her second training week to discern his/her call to ministry and possible assignment.
  • Preparing a profile on each graduate of the current class and a list of graduates after the January CLayM training, along with recommendations on past ClayM graduates for the Cabinet’s spring meeting on appointments and assignments.
  • Participate in CLayM Committee meetings and CLayM graduate gatherings.
  • Coordinate follow-up training for ClayM graduates.
  • Present ClayM graduates at Annual Conference.

Financial Agreement:   $30 per hour, not to exceed an annual maximum of $12,000, plus accountable reimbursements for expenses and IRS allowance for mileage.

Starting Date:   June 1, 2005
