Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace with wholeness and justice. It represents the journey towards hope and wholeness through which people experience health, prosperity, security, co-operation and spiritual renewal.

The Communities of Shalom coordinate and collaborate with local businesses, churches, agencies and organizations to help communities through education, alcohol and substance abuse prevention, neighborhood revitalization, health services, improved transportation, better housing, and neighborhood specific programming. Shalom Communities seek to fight social and economic injustice.

Shalom Communities began in 1992, after the Los Angeles Riots. There are now over 350 nationwide. We have three in the Charlotte NC area, which began with a training two years ago. Please Pray for the Charlotte Communities of Shalom: Optimist Park, Southside and Thomasboro.

resurrected communities of God's Shalom!
