Seaford United Methodist Church

Our History

1857-Founded.
1859-The Methodist Episcopal Church was dedicated at its location on Merrick Road, Atlanticville.
1915-The Church became the Seaford Church when Atlanticville was renamed Seaford.
1923-The Church was physically moved from its site on Merrick Road to its present location at the corner of Washington and Waverly Avenues.
1958-Ground broken for new Education Building.
1967-Corner stone laid for new sanctuary.
1968-Bishop Lloyd C. Wicke consecrates new facilities.
1977-Our current Pastor, Dr. Richard F. Williamson arrives.

Our Positions

We are a Bible Based: Christ Centered: Spirit Sustained Congregation in the Wesleyan tradition that supports the following Evangelical organizations:

Member Church of the National Association of Evangelicals since 1983. We
conform to the doctrines and practices that are consistent with the statement of faith and constitution of the NAE. http://www.nae.net/

We are a GOOD NEWS church http://www.goodnewsmag.org/ that financially supports the Forum for Scriptural Christianity. This decision began in the spring of 1994 when our Administrative Council voted to redirect our World Service Apportionment to Good News until and unless the radical left power structure of our denomination repents and rejects their promotion and support of such heretical movements as the Re-Imagining Conferences.

We are now financially supporting our third Mission Society Missionary the
Rev. Andrew Howell ChezHowell@aol.com currently stationed near Paris,
France.

We continue to financially support our home Missionary, Jeanne Desposito. Jeanne serves with the B.C.M International in the Corning Area Upstate New York. http://www.bcmintl.org/
Jeanne and her family are longstanding members of Seaford United Methodist Church.

We support the work and principles of the TRANSFORMING CONGREGATIONS. http://www.transformingcong.org
