Church for Sale

The Church building was built in 1880 and reflects the architecture of that era, tin ceilings, and stained glass windows including a large round window that was hidden away back in the 60’s to conserve energy. The basement below the sanctuary is finished and used for a day care facility with full kitchen and storage. The choir loft provides a beautiful view of the worship area; access is limit to a winding staircase. An expansion was added in the 60’s with the completion of an education wing and office space. This flat roofed addition provides a large meeting /function room with kitchen.  An office and small meeting room are included in the totally handicap accessible first floor. The basement of the expansion provides another large gathering room and 6 smaller classroom/offices. The back entrance and exit provide safe and easy exit from the back of the building.  The property is in Gorham’s Village Commercial Zone.  A buyer will find there are a variety of permissible uses.

      Construction Committee News

Early last month, the Church Construction Committee became aware of a possible major delay in Building plans: the Maine Department of Transportation felt we needed a traffic study for the Cressey Road/Rt. 25 intersection. Thanks to our design team, we are able to this process, receive a traffic permit and move onto Planning Board approval and a building permit from the town. Upon receipt of the building permit, we will gear up for the important phase of getting our new church built. -February 2003
