Saturday, November 14, 2009 - Fall Festival

Come join us for our annual Fall Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Soups and sandwiches will be for sale along with bake goods, a crafts sell, and a white elephant room. Craft items can be brought to the church anytime Friday, Nov 13th. Bake Table Goodies may be brought to the church as early as 8 a.m. on Sat, Nov 14th. Help is needed all day Friday and Saturday, decorating, setting tables, preparing food before and during the Fall Festival, serving food/drinks, working in the kitchen, etc., etc., ... and especially CLEANING UP afterwards. Please print out this copy of the Fall Festival Flyer and handout to your friends (or simply email it to them).

Thursday-Saturday, November 12-14 - Hammond High Play

Hammond High School's Theatre Department presents it's fall play "The Importance of Being Earnest". Tickets in advance from school or a a cast member for $7 or buy them at the door for $9. Performances will be held on: Thursday Nov 12 @ 7 p.m., Friday Nov 13 @ 7 p.m., Saturday Nov 14 @ 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.

Sunday, November 15 - Junior Youth Group Movie Outing

The next youth group meeting will be a movie event. We plan to see the new Disney movie "A Christmas Carol" with Jim Carrey. The exact time and location will be provided prior to the event. The youth group will buy the tickets and each member should bring money for food and drinks.

Monday, November 17 - Savage Historical Society Meeting

The Savage Historical Society (SHS) will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. in the Faith & Ministry Center. Helen Rushing will be presenting "Could Your Mill House be a Sears, Roebuck & Co. Home Kit? Questions can be directed to the SHS secretary at 301-725-1241.

Saturday, November 21 - Burke Family Concert

There will be a 6:30 p.m. a cappela gospel performance at the First Baptist Church of Savage, 8901 Washington St., Savage, MD 20763, (301)725-3944.

Sunday, November 22 - Feast of Booths

Annual Feast of Booths service during main worship service. Donations should consist of non-perishable food items that can be used to make a Thanksgiving Day meal. Suggested non-perishable food items: instant or fresh potatoes, rice, stuffing, green beans, corn, peas, cranberry sauce, apple sauce, and canned gravy. Monetary Donations are needed as well for the purchase of turkeys and other perishable items to complete the meals. There will be a need for volunteers to go out and purchase additional food items (perishable) that will be needed to complete the baskets. If you know of anyone who is in need this year and would appreciate the donation of a Thanksgiving Dinner, please contact the church office at (301)725-7630.

Savage Community Thanksgiving service at 6 p.m., Bethel Assembly of God, 9001 Vollmerhausen Road, Jessup, MD 20763.

Friday-Sunday, December 11-13 - Christmas at Uncle Phil's Diner

Our favorite dinner cafe is back. Dining times are Friday December 11 @ 6:00 p.m., Saturday December 12 @ 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Sunday December 13 @ 1:00 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Sunday, December 20 - Christmas Cantata

The SUMC Choir will present their annual Christmas Cantata during the Sunday worship service.

Thursday, December 24 - Christmas Eve Services

There will be two Christmas Eve Services this year. The 7:00 p.m. service will be at Community United Methodist Church. The 9:00 p.m. service will be at United Methodist Church of Savage.

Friday-Sunday, January 22-24, 2010 - UMC Rock 2010

Rock 2010 will be held in Ocean City, MD. Any youth in grades 6 or above interested in attending should contact Toni Vollmerhausen. More information on Rock 2010 can be found on the Baltimore-Washington Conference Web Site.
