You might be wondering how paving a parking lot and updating the church sign is going to add to the kingdom of God.

First, we want the church to continue to move forward for the sake of the Gospel. Many in our community see Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church as a bright light in the community and have invested in the future of this church by making donations to this fund. This project will make the church grounds a more welcoming facility to the community.

Second, these gifts help remind us of the joy & excitement of giving.

Third, even in times of economic uncertainty, there is always more certainty in giving than in hiding our gifts under a bushel.

Fourth, giving is a way for us to put our faith in God's provision.

If you didn't get a chance to turn in your pledge card, please take a moment to prayerfully consider making a gift to the Paving the Way to the Cross project. This is the first phase of our church growth. Our goal is to raise $50,000 towards paving the parking lot and updating our church sign. The trustees evaluated the pledges received through the end of September and selected a paving company. The parking lot is paved. Thanks to everyone that made this possible. There is still landscaping work to be done, so the job isn't 100% complete. The trustees will evaluate the costs and determine when to undergo the sign update portion of this project.

Your gift, no matter what amount, will make a huge difference! It isn't too late to turn in a pledge amount to be offered during the remaining portion of 2009 or even for 2010.

We believe the "Paving the Way to the Cross" is a great metaphor of what is to come at Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church. It is only when we take up our cross and follow Christ - practice "radical hospitality, passionate worship, intentional faith development, risk taking mission/service, and extravagant generosity" - that we are going to fully understand what it means to be radical disciples of Jesus Christ. (UM Bishop R. Schnase, Five Fruitful Practices). When we become enlightened about what it means to be a vital church, this contagious light will shine on others in our community.
