Hero's Club meets every Tuesday when school is open, from 3:30–6:00 pm. This club provides children in our community with a fun, supportive environment where they can grow in their faith.

Along with time for homework help, snacks, and recreation, elementary school children also get a chance to engage in a Bible story.

Working with the Wolfsville Elementary School, children are walked from the school doors to Salem Church on Tuesday afternoons.

At least two adult chaperones are present for each weekly session, and stay until all children are released to their parents or authorized guardian.

Volunteers are also encouraged to participate, especially using their gifts and graces to teach the participants new things.

Hero's Club staff member Mary Fear, under the supervision of Pastor Bob Snyder, will be the Hero's Club Ministry Leader for the fall semester. Mary will plan the weekly activities, Pastor Bob will tell the Bible story at Chapel Time, and connect with families from the community.

To further connect families with the congregation, periodically church dinners may be held on Tuesday nights after the club.

Families who participate are asked to pay tuition of $20 a month per child to the ministry, to help cover the cost of snacks, activity materials, and paid staff.

We will also invite members of the congregation to “sponsor” a child, making a donation to cover the costs. Students in need of scholarship would be identified by the club leader or pastor.

  Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hero's Club?
Hero's Club is a Biblically-centered club for students in Pre-K through 5th grade, held at Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville.

Meeting every Tuesday afternoon when Frederick County has school, from 3:30–6:00 pm, we look at trust, courage, forgiveness, obedience and love through the eyes of our Biblical heroes.

Students move between homework help, activities such as crafts, music, or games, and hear a Bible Story. Growing closer to one another and closer to God, students gain greater self-confidence and grow in their faith.

How does my child get to Hero's Club?
Leaders from Hero's Club will meet students on Tuesday afternoons at 3:30 pm at the Wolfsville Elementary School. Students are walked to Salem United Methodist and remain on church property until parents or other authorized persons pick them up.

How much does Hero's Club cost?
To help offset costs for snacks and other activities, we are asking tuition of $20 per month for each child participant. However, donations from the congregation will help offset the cost for those in need. If you would like your child to participate, but are unable to pay the $20 fee, please talk to the Hero's Club Leader or the pastor.

What happens if I need to get
in contact with Hero's Club?

Parents may call the church phone number 301-293-1799, while Hero's Club is in session.

Where do I pick up my child?
Students must be picked up from Salem United Methodist Church by 6:00 pm on Tuesday afternoons. Once you enter the church, move up the stairs. In the large social hall, a leader will greet you to show you where your child is located. If you are going to be late, or an emergency arises, please contact the church.
