HIGHLIGHTS OF DISTRICT CONFERENCE MEETING:
Theme: "Jesus, We are Here"

Rev. Regan, District Superintendent, called Conference to order
- thanked the host church and the WOW committee.
- confirmed that ministry and the outreach of the District is here.
- asked District Methodists to open a window and share the love of Christ.
Donna DeVinney, Chair of Board of Missions and Church Extension, sketched the work of the Board and introduced members of the executive committee.
District Council on Ministries business
- Dr. Kenneth Christler, Chair of the Council on Ministries, explained mission of council.
- Dwight Chisholm and Ralph Czerepinski gave computer graphics show illustrating work of council. View lay speaking portion of this show.
- The following recommendation presented by the Nominating Committee was approved: Be it resolved that the term of elected office for the Saginaw Bay District officers be limited to two quadrennial terms (eight years maximum) in any one office. Each term shall usually be four years and service in half or more of any term shall constitute a full term. After service two consecutive terms, a person will be ineligible for service in the same office for a period of four years. In those cases where election is for a three-year term, members are eligible to serve three terms (nine years maximum), then a person will be ineligible to serve in the same office for a period of three years. In case of disciplinary requirements in offices, those will take precedent.
- A slate of officers was elected (see DCOM page).
- Members of District were encouraged to submit recommendations for unfilled positions.
- DCOM was given authority to fill vacancies as recommended by the Nominating Committee until the next District Conference.
- Elected members came forward for installation prayer.
