New Pastor
We recently said farewell to pastor Sam Harris.  Sam decided to leave the Methodist ministry and pursue a different career for a time as manager of housing at the Episcopal Cathedral in Albuquerque, NM.  We wish him luck in his new endeavor.

Our new pastor appointed by the Oklahoma Methodist Conference is Danny Vaughn.  We believe they made an excellent choice. Danny is from Chickasha, Ok and is serving the Methodist Church in two capacities.  Besides pastoring at our church he is business manager at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha.  Danny and his wife Diane have four children: daughter Amy and her husband Shane May have two children, Kelly and Brandon, and live in Tulsa; daughter Erin also lives and works in Tulsa; daughter Devin is attending college at UCO in Edmond, OK; and son Drew lives at home and will be a senior next term at Chickasha High School.  Devin has already treated the congregation to special music.  She has a beautiful voice and Danny is not bad with the piano!

Since Chickasha is only 20 miles from Rush Springs, Danny and his family didn't have to move.  Therefore, the church has rented the parsonage for the next year.  The extra income will come in handy.  We invite everyone to worship with us and meet our new pastor.  May God bless his time at our church.

New Carillons!
Over ten years ago a Schlumerich tape type carillon system was given to the church in memory of a long time member Sadie James by her children.  That system served the church and community well and was enjoyed by everyone.  Around a year ago the old system began to fail as the old music tapes became worn out.  There were several times that it wouldn't shut off and the carillon would play for several hours before someone would call the pastor.  It was decided at that time to shut the system down and decide what to do.  The administrative council decided to seek costs for repair or replacement.  After investigation it was found that the best solution was to purchase an upgrade system from Chime Master Systems.  The new carillon would use the old speakers and amplifier which were still functioning well, but would replace the old mechanical clock and tape system with a computerized timer and compact disk (CD) based system.  It would also be more flexible in programming and have a battery back-up clock system.  The system was ordered on a 30 day trial.  Once the music began to play again, it was decided to purchase the system with memorials given to the Church in memory of Viola Himes and Margaret Ann Vincent, also long time members of the church.  We are very proud of the system and hope the church and community will enjoy the music for years to come.
