for information on the Rodes UMC Endowment. Missionary Update Thank you for your support of Clara Biswas, a missionary serving in
Cambodia. Rodes United Methodist Church has a covenant relationship
with her in which we commit to support her financially. Our financial
goal is $1050.00 per year. Any money raised above the covenant
amount will be used to support projects she is involved with. You can
donate through the church treasury or through the United Methodist
Men. You can also pray for her. Clara is involved in ministering to
disadvantaged people. Some of those persons she ministers to live
near and collect items from the dump site. Through her working with
children and families she is able to help those persons with basis
needs and present the gospel message. Since the covenant with her
began, the financial obligation has been met and some funds collected
above that amount for her mission projects. Men's Study Afton Men’s fellowship and Bible study beginning 7:30 A.M. Breakfast is offered. Twice a month members of this study lead singing at local nursing homes, on the second Tuesday at Avante and the fourth Tuesday at Augusta. Men from various churches attend this study and help with the singing.
Prayer
Time Each Thursday
morning, you are invited to an hour time of singing and praying at the home of
Bob and Maggi Nelson from 8:00 - 9:00 A.M. The Nelsons live on
Avon Road across from the Rodes Church building. The address is
197 Avon Road. Food Drive Each month food will be collected for the Nelson County Pantry. The pantry feeds about 250 families per month. There is a container in the
narthex and social hall for your donations. Desperately needed food items include:
Canned meats (tuna, salmon, SPAM), canned vegetables, canned fruits,
pasta and pasta sauces, peanut butter, boxed fruit juices, and cereals. Bible Study
The Wednesday morning Bible Study taught by the pastor in the Rodes United Methodist Church fellowship hall is being held on Wednesday mornings 10:00 A.M. The study usually lasts about an hour. You are invited to join us for this time of
fellowship and study. Currently we are studying the parables of
Jesus, as recorded in the 15th chapter of Luke. Worship
Services on CD The
Sunday main worship service is being recorded onto CD. If you
miss a Sunday, and would like to listen to a recording of the service,
you may borrow the CD recording of the service and listen to it.
The CDs can be found in the mailbox area between the Sanctuary and
the Sunday School building. Please return the CD when you are finished
listening to it so others may have a chance to hear the service.
If you would like a copy of a particular service, please see Mark
Garwood, and one will be made for you. *************************** Missionary Support :
Clara Biswas Clara Mridula
Biswas is assigned as a community worker in Cambodia. She works to
improve the lives of impoverished children in Phnom Penh, many of whom are
homeless and live in the streets. Clara is ministering in a place that most of
us will never travel to and ministering to a people we will probably never
personally minister to. Clara was chosen by the Rodes United Methodist Men to be
supported financially. The goal is to raise $1050 per year. Special offering
envelopes are available in the vestibule of the church building or your can send
your gifts to 8472 Rockfish Valley Highway, Afton, VA 22920. Please make your
checks to the United Methodist Men and mark your gift "for missionary
support." Thank you for your support of Clara through your prayers and finances.
