Classes are available for Ages 4 through Middle School. There will be recreation, singing, crafts, mission learning and classroom instruction. Vacation Bible School is a great time to learn more about God as well as have fellowship with other believers. It also provides the opportunity for outreach to our community. Each day an offering is collected for a mission cause. At the end of the 10:45 A.M. worship service at Rodes United Methodist Church on June 28, participants from Vacation Bible School will present some of the music learned.

United Methodist Men News
The United Methodist Men have been helping to build a Habitat for Humanity Home in Nelson County. Men from the Rodes Church family have been building the front and back porches. The men’s group has purchased food which is available for needy families. Also the men have been collecting money to support missionary Clara Biswas. Any man is invited to join us on the third Tuesday of each month, 7:30 P.M. in the church library. After the meeting, there is a time of refreshments with the United Methodist Women.

Men’s Study
Tuesday mornings, men from the Rodes Church family and larger community meet for fellowship, food, and study. The book of Revelation is being studied. An audio presentation from David Jeremiah is our guide. We begin with food and coffee at around 7:30 A.M. We try to end a little before 9:00 A.M.

Prayer Time
Each Thursday morning, you are invited to an hour time of singing and praying at the home of Bob and Maggi Nelson from 8:00 – 9:00 A.M. The Nelsons live at 197 Avon Road, across from the Rodes Church building.

Food Drive
Each month food will be collected for the Nelson County Pantry. The pantry feeds about 200 families per month. There is a container in the narthex and social hall for your donations. Desperately needed food items include: Canned meats (tuna, salmon, SPAM), canned vegetables, canned fruits, pasta and pasta sauces, peanut butter, boxed fruit juices, and cereals.

Bible Study
Wednesday mornings, the pastor teaches a Bible study in the fellowship hall.  Currently Paul's letter to the Ephesians is being studied.  The study begins 10:00 A.M.  Join us for this time of prayer, fellowship, and study.

Miss a Sunday?
If you miss the Sunday morning worship service, you can listen to a tape of the service. Tapes are available for approximately a month after the service. Please contact Mark Garwood for more information at (540)456-6965.

Clara Mridula Biswas

Missionary Support : Clara Biswas

Clara Mridula Biswas is assigned as a community worker in Cambodia. She works to improve the lives of impoverished children in Phnom Penh, many of whom are homeless and live in the streets. Clara is ministering in a place that most of us will never travel to and ministering to a people we will probably never personally minister to. Clara was chosen by the Rodes United Methodist Men to be supported financially. The goal is to raise $1050 per year. Special offering envelopes are available in the vestibule of the church building or your can send your gifts to 8472 Rockfish Valley Highway, Afton, VA 22920. Please make your checks to the United Methodist Men and mark your gift "for missionary support." Thank you for your support of Clara through your prayers and finances.
