Responsibilities of
the Preschool Director
The
Director shall be responsible for the total operation of the preschool.
A. Educational Program: Develop curriculum that promotes social, physical intellectual,
emotional, and spiritual development of children in preparation for primary
school.
- Coordinate a
well-rounded program that includes reading, writing, math readiness,
language development, music rhythms, science, phonics, physical development
and story in a Christian environment.
- Coordinate the
daily lessons for each class and together with the teachers develop and
carry out daily lessons.
- Conduct weekly
teacher’s meetings with the staff.
- Develop a
quarterly progress report based on the evaluation of each child’s
performance and potential.
- Plan field trips.
- Stay alert to the
needs of all the children and communicate special needs to parents.
- Join
association(s) of community preschool directors and participate in meetings.
- Attend
appropriate training for professional growth.
- Provide
opportunities for teachers and aide training.
B.
Administrative Duties
- Know and follow state and local preschool requirements and or guidelines
of public health, fire and safety rules. The Director is responsible for the
safety and whereabouts of each child during school hours.

Work within the budget of the school. Keeps a record of all school
income and expenses.

Deposit receipts with RMUMC Bookkeeping staff.

Organize and conducts all business pertaining to the school’s operation:
- Registration
- Monthly billing and collection
- Purchasing instructional materials
- Field Trips
- Menu planning of daily snacks and arrangements for attaining
them
- Insure materials and equipment are available and in good order.
- Obtain substitute
personnel when required.
- Coordinate a monthly report of class activities for the parent newsletter
and encloses the monthly tuition statement with the newsletter.
- Establish and follow a procedure for medical attention for ill or injured
children in accordance with parental instructions.
- Direct the scheduling of conferences with parents concerning their
children.
- Keep records on the child’s personal information and at your discretion
education progress.
- Conduct yearly
staff evaluations.
- At the end of
each day, insure all lights are out, HVAC set properly, and all doors are
locked.
- Attend weekly
RMUMC staff meetings.
- Give a monthly
update report to the Preschool Board of Directors regarding preschool budget
status, parent concerns, teacher (staff) concerns, and joys.
- Be responsible to
the Preschool Board of Directors.
Pre-Opening Responsibilities

Work with the Preschool Board of Directors
to develop the duties and responsibilities of the positions of Teacher and
Teaching Assistant for each class level and write job descriptions.

Be a part of hiring necessary staff with
the approval by the Preschool Board of Directors and the Staff-Parish
Committee.

Work with the Preschool Task Force to
carry out a community open house for the preschool during the Spring of 2006.
Education Requirements
-
A four year degree in Early Childhood
Education or equivalent.
-
5 years of experience in early childhood
education – preferred.
-
Meet requirements of the State of Arizona
for a Director of preschool.
Other Position Qualities Preferred

A desire to provide a quality preschool as
a mission of RMUMC

A desire to actively develop a preschool.

A Christian.
