For many years, Arlene & Ben Suomi have been faithful members of the church. Each has volunteered to do a variety of tasks. During the summer, when Arlene and Ben are in town, Ben spends some of his spare time in his woodworking shop. Ben is a master with the scroll saw. Two of his gifts to the church are shown below.
The viewer should know that the photo was taken looking up at an angle to avoid glare in the Plexiglas cover from windows across the sanctuary.
There are several other gifts from Ben Suomi in the church. Everyone should view them and thank Ben for his generosity.

Pastor Jim and Dorothy Fegan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April 2008. The Republic and Michigamme Churches decided to hold a joint celebration in June 2008 at the Michigamme Church Social Hall. Below are several photos of the celebration.

The congregations of both churches offered congratulation gifts to Jim and Dorothy in the form of cards and monetary gifts in the "golden egg".
A feast was enjoyed by all. Both congregations helped with prepared food and dishes to pass. The youth provided busing service.
During the feast, entertainment was supplied by a fine group of performers named "Men Singing Gospel".
Later, after congratulations were extended, both Jim and Dorothy had a chance to relive, in stories about themselves, the lighter moments of their life together.
All attending wished Pastor Jim and Dorothy continued health and happiness in the future.

In the spring of 2008, one Sunday Gospel lesson was Matthew 7:24-28, which reads in part, "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock". To honor the Word of God, a cross of stone was crafted by Jim Lombardo and displayed for our worship service that Sunday.
Our thanks and gratitude go to Jim and Jacalyn Lombardo.
