SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY - LOCALLY AND AROUND THE WORLD!
Churches, Scouts, schools, clubs, organizations, businesses and individuals are ALL invited to join the fun and participate in Renton’s CROP Hunger Walk.
At last year’s event, 18 Renton churches and organizations raised over $30,000 to alleviate hunger in the community.
· 25% of every dollar raised helps support the Renton Food Bank, Friendly Kitchen, ARISE and Margie Williams Helping Hands.
· 75% goes to support Church World Service’s work in over 80 countries, aiding victims of disaster, poverty and hunger. In Washington State, CWS is helping train local recovery groups for long-term needs of flood victims.
This year’s Walk is on Sunday, May 4, 2008. Registration begins at 1:00 at the picnic shelter at Liberty Park in Renton.
Follow the scenic Cedar River Trail to Ron Regis Park, and back again. The total course is 6.8K. Snacks and drinks will be provided along the way.
Can’t walk that far? NO PROBLEM! A 1.5K course is optional and goes to the Riverview Park and back. Other volunteer opportunities are also available that allow you to participate in the festivities without wearing out your soles.
Can’t be there that day? NO PROBLEM! You can still be there in spirit by doing your own personal CROP Walk for Renton, or you can make some treats to help feed the hungry walkers.
Still can’t do it? NO PROBLEM! You can be a sponsor and help us raise money to help the poor and hungry in Renton and beyond.
You can sign-up through your local participating church, or form a team of your own. Register on the web or you can register at the event. For more information, contact Sharon Kenyon at 425-271-2080.
For safety reasons no pets, trikes, bikes, skate boards, blades or skates are allowed. Wagons and strollers for small children are permitted.
Renton CROP WALK is sponsored by REACH (Renton Ecumenical Association of Churches) and Church World Service.
