Meet
Pastor
Terry Plocher
Greetings, friends in Christ. It is good
to be
appointed to the
Reinbeck United Methodist Church. I look forward to sharing life
in
Christ with all of you!
Here is a little bit about me. While I was a youth at Cedar
Rapids St.
Marks UMC I was very active in the youth group and youth work
camps. In
July of 1978 I received my first call into ministry.
I went to Westmar
College and Earlham School of Religion
in Richmond,
Indiana, where I served two small churches. Returning to Iowa, my
wife,
Robyn, and I co-pastored the Geneseo and Garrison UMC’s. We
feel like
we are returning to old stomping grounds.
While
appointed to Muscatine,
I had two churches. One was affected by the Mississippi River
flood of
1993 and became a flood relief center for UMCOR and other relief
organizations. The other church burned to the ground in December
of
1993. I spent the next 18 months helping them reconstruct their
building and ministry. In 1995 I went on leave from
ministry and spent
9 years as a carpenter. I joined the Asbury UM staff in 2004 as
full
time youth pastor where I have had a very successful ministry.
Robyn is an ordained
deacon, with a ministry of
counseling grieving and
traumatized children. She will be taking the next year off to
create some art and re-create herself.
We have two children.
Amber is
22,
married, and has blessed us with a wonderful 7 month old
grandson. Richie is 19 and graduating from Pleasant
Valley High School
this year. He will be
joining us at the parsonage while
seeking
a job in food service or as a cook in the Reinbeck area and eventually
settling into an apartment. Any job leads you might have for him
would
be welcome.

My passions for ministry include
preaching
and leading worship, pastoral
care, teaching and helping each person to discover their own gifts for
ministry. My hobbies include bicycling, model railroads and
woodworking.
We are very
excited about returning to small town life and the opportunities that
await us in Reinbeck.
