RED BRIDGE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

THE STORY BEHIND THE LOGO

The new Red Bridge United Methodist Church logo, designed by graphic artist Jan Tracy (a former member and daughter of Wilbur & Virginia Young) expresses who we are as a church.

It is a combination of traditional and contemporary artwork. The logo has a stained-glass appearance while the general design has a more modern feel. The exterior architecture of the Red Bridge sanctuary is clearly visable in the logo.

The Red Bridge United Methodist Church Mission Statement says we are called to be a Christ-focused church. Thus the cross dominates the center of the logo. Note that the cross is not attached to or dependent on the building but rather the 'church' is wrapped around the cross. The cross bar has the appearance of a nail to signify the redemptive power of the cross while also conveying a sense of movement. As we follow the cross we are led into the future.

We are also called to be a spiritual home where all are invited. The bridge offers the open invitation for people to come to the cross and to our church's ministry. It also serves as a way for those of us 'in the church' to go out in service to the world. Thus the bridge both begins and ends at the cross.

The colors of gold and teal were selected because of their warm, inviting hues and also because they reflect the primary colors in our stained glass windows in our entry way and sanctuary.
