ANNUAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION
June 15-18, 2008 ** Civic Center, Roanoke, Virginia
ANNUAL CONFERENCE ORIENTATION for clergy and lay members attending conference will be held Saturday, June 7, 10:00-11:30 AM, White Stone UMC. If there is any change in your lay member who will be attending, please contact the district office immediately.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE OFFERING…every church is asked to receive a special offering prior to the Conference session and their pastor or lay member should bring that with them. The goal for this year’s offering is $300,000 and is being designated for the following projects:
BRAZIL:$50,000 - VIVART (Hip-hop ministry with inner-city youth). VIVART means “Life Through Art.”
MOZAMBIQUE:$50,000- Orphanage at Cambine Mission Center.
GLOBAL HIV/AIDS FUND:$100,000- Ongoing assistance in offering help and treatment for those with HIV/AIDS.
CONFERENCE KITS...UMCOR’s relief supply warehouse, Sager Brown, is requesting donations for 33,000 layette kits, 64,000 sewing kits and 1,000 bedding kits to meet upcoming needs. NOTE THE FOLLOWING: School Kits: The packet of multi-colored construction paper that was once on the list for inclusion in school kits has been replaced with either a third notebook or package of lined paper. Health Kits:UMCOR Sager Brown requests that toothpaste be removed from the kit contents. In its place please send $1.00 to be used to purchase toothpaste in bulk to be added to health kits before shipping to ensure the product does not expire before being sent.
