EMERGENCY SERVICES COMMITTEE GATHERING

The newly formed Emergency Services Committee  (ESC), hosted a roundtable type meeting on Tuesday morning, May 5th. The purpose of the meeting was to see how we as a Church with our resources, could best interface with our local County agencies, in the event of a disaster affecting our local area.

Attending were members of the Nye County Emergency Services, Nye Fire Department, ESC members, and several interested members of our church.

Invited guest, Larry Powell (Disaster Response Consultant with UMCOR  Emergency Services) gave a broad and extremely informative presentation of resources which are available through our United Methodist connection, County agencies, and FEMA³. From his years of experience, he was able to share some little known resources which can benefit both the Church and the Country Agencies. He also gave a video presentation of the structure and resources of FEMA.
