The Church’s Mission
Then Jesus came to them and said;
“... Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you...”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NRSV)
Food Pantry
The Food Pantry at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church serves the Salem community by providing food for families and individuals with low incomes. Each week the pantry makes up bags of packaged and fresh foods for fifty clients. Led by Greta Rose Barnes and Kay Panciocco some twenty to thirty volunteers buy, unload, store and distribute about 1500 pounds of food each week. Donations of food are received through the Boy Scout Troops, and Salem Post Office employees; money donations are made by individuals and groups in Salem and New Hampshire.
Prayer Service
Sunday evenings Prayer Meeting/Bible Study for all interested. Shared with our sister church, Hannah Tenny Memorial in Salem.
Disaster Relief
Disaster Relief provides support for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Church members donated money, time and materials to provide kits to UMCOR for distribution to areas affected by the South East Asia Tsunami and for Hurricane Katrina in United States. UMCOR has a continuing need for both money and material to carry out its critical mission.
