Greetings from Reverend Ken...

This is an exciting time in the life of our Church and to be part of our Church family. As we began a new decade, Prospect reaffirmed its Vision and Mission and kicked off a strategic Capital Campaign to enhance our ability to support God's plan for Prospect's future and to sustain a historic pillar of our community.

The cornerstone and theme of this important undertaking is "Preserving Our Past While Building Our Future". Plans are underway to build a larger Fellowship Hall and Education Wing addition. We are on schedule to complete this important enhancement to our church facility in 2012! Prospect is alive and growing!

It is indeed a privilege to be a part of "The Little White Church in Ebony" and I invite you to join us on our spiritually fulfilling and rewarding journey. When God leads you to Prospect, you will always receive a warm welcome. We'll be happy to see you as often as you bless us with your presence!

If you need my pastoral services, I am easy to reach via email (that comes to my Blackberry) or by calling 434-636-4058.

And yes, I love to fish as well as play golf! A 16-pounder! Come join me...

God's Vision for Prospect

God sees Prospect as a historic pillar and spiritual sanctuary of the community with an open and welcoming embrace to all who choose to enter, resulting in a dynamic, multi-cultural membership of old and new in harmony with each other, who exemplify His word through beliefs, behaviors and actions aligned with Christian principles — impacting ourselves, our community, our nation and our world.

Church Life

Prospect is a historic church serving the community for over 200 years and in its current location since 1887. We are a supportive, faith-based Church family, committed to glorifying God and making disciples for Christ. Our continuous mission is to reflect God's vision and make disciples for Christ.

Our programs, ministries, and fellowship are family-oriented and age-appropriate, uplifting, and enriching. Sunday Worship Service, typically 1 hour and a blend of traditional and contemporary features (bulletin), is coordinated with Children's Church and Sunday School, sharing a portion of time together. We enjoy coffee and fellowship time immediately following the Worship Service.

We serve God, help others, are serious about making a difference — and have fun! Learn more about Prospect through our newsletter that is published quarterly.

On Sunday, February 25, we received final approval from the District to move forward with construction of Phase I. And in a followup Charge Conference on March 18 we recevied final approval for Phase II allowing it to be integrated with Phase I schedule. Click here to see our journey (6M PDF). If you have a slower internet connection, click here for a condensed version.

Our goal for completion is the beginning of September (in time for Fall Festival).

A match made in heaven perhaps?! Less than 1 week after we received the green light for Phase I, the Old Store Hunt Club dismantled and removed the old fellowship hall. They salvaged about 80% of the materials to be used to build out the inside of their new hunt club building. What a wonderful way for our old fellowship hall, that served us so well for almost 40 year with so many special memories, will continue to live on as part of the community.
