Welcome to the Web Site of Prospect United Methodist Church, Bristol, Connecticut.

Our historic sanctuary of granite and brownstone, with its impressive clock tower, is on the corner of Summer and Center Streets, a residential neighborhood near the city center. Founded in 1834, our church's name comes from beautiful " prospect " of the hillside site to which it relocated from West Street in the 1870's.

In the sanctuary under the tower gathers the warm and caring Propect family, a congregation committed to the fulfillment of our vision as " A Growing Christian Community of Faith and Action". Sunday services are held at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m.

The early service, held in the air-conditioned chapel, is a half-hour service with Holy Communion. It is perfect for those with other responsibilities later in the day.

The 10:00 a.m. service in the sanctuary, with music from our 12-rank Austin Pipe Organ, children's , youth, and adult choirs together with bells, chimes, brass, flute, strings, and soloists on special occasions, is an uplifting and inspiring experience of worship.

Prospect is known as a family and child-friendly church. Children attend the opening portion of the 10:00 a.m. service with their families, come forward for the children's message, then go to their Sunday School classes. Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers.

Holy Communion is offered for the first Sunday each month at the 10:00 a.m. service. Baptisms are held as scheduled with the pastor.

Fellowship time with refreshments takes place in Sessions Hall immediately following worship at 11:15 a.m. each Sunday, during which birthdays, anniversaries and other special events are celebrated. Junior and Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship meeting are held Sunday evenings.

All are cordially invited to Prospect United Methodist Church. You will find a warm and caring welcome here. If you do not have a church home, won't you come and visit us?

God bless you!

Pastor Dee Stevens
