Prospect United Methodist Church is very proud of its’ music department. We have an adult choir, 2 children’s choirs, a children’s handbell and choir chime choir, and an adult handbell and choir chime choir.

The Adult Choir

The Adult Choir prides itself in the variety of music that it sings. The choir has a repertoire ranging from the classics of Bach to the contemporary music of today. Rehearsals are Thursday night’s 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. and they are a lot of fun! We meet early on Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. before service. Everyone is welcome whether you can read music or not!

Laura Murach has been our music director since 1990. She came to us from Ithaca College where she earned her Bachelor’s of Music in Organ.

Prospect United Methodist Church has two children’s choirs,
under the direction of Grace Ann Grindal

The Junior Choir for Grades 3-6

And

The Youth Choir for Grades 7-12

This year both of these choirs practice on Thursday’s from 4:15 – 5:30 p.m. and sing each Sunday morning.

There is a children’s chime choir which also meets on Thursday’s with practice usually from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. (most children do both)

All the choirs have fun in activities outside the regular church service – talent shows, ecumenical programs, convalescent homes, Spring Rings, pool parties, pizza parties, special trips to the Carousel Museum, Lake Compounce, and a restaurant where you can see the inside of a real organ.

If you need transportation to rehearsals, leave your name and phone number with the church office (582-3443) and we will contact you.

So if you like to sing, come join us on Thursday’s. There is a robe waiting for you!

The Handbell Choir

For those in high school who would like to be a part of the Adult Hand Bell Choir, rehearsals are held 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. after church on Sundays.

If you are interested in joining any of our music programs, please contact the church office.
