Dear Web Visitor,
Welcome to the web presence of the Prospect United Methodist Church. The “real” presence of Prospect Church is in the world – being individual instruments of God’s love wherever our members go.
Called to service, we are centered in worship. We worship on Sunday mornings at 8:30 in the chapel and 10:00 in the sanctuary. We also worship on other occasions during the seasons of Lent and Christmas. Music in our sanctuary is something to behold. Led by our choirs of adults, youth and children plus our hand-bell choir, we are also blessed with a 12-rank Austin pipe organ. For very special occasions, brass, flute and string accompaniment add to our praise.
Our historic building of granite and brownstone, with its impressive clock tower, is on the corner of Summer and Center Streets, a residential neighborhood near the city center. Founded in 1834, our church's name comes from the beautiful " prospect " of the hillside site to which it relocated from West Street in the 1870's.
Prospect is known as a family and child-friendly church. Children attend the opening portion of the 10:00 a.m. service with their families, come forward for the children's message, then go to their Sunday School classes. Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at the 10:00 a.m. service and each Sunday at the 8:30 service.
Following the later worship service, we gather in Sessions Hall to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Junior and Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship meeting are held Sunday evenings.
We invite you to check out the “real” presence of Prospect church. A warm welcome awaits.
Dennis Winkleblack,
Pastor

Our bell choir is up and running now. We rehearse most Sundays following worship service. We really can use one or two more players to round out the group. NO music reading skills are necessary.
