Meet Our Pastor, Everett Stoddard, "Rev Ev"

Rev Ev was born and raised in East Liverpool, Ohio. After graduating from Kent State University with a degree in journalism, he embarked on a career as an editor at several regional newspapers. Building on that experience, he moved to H & M Rubber Company in Kent where he served as a manager in the areas of sales, marketing, purchasing and employee safety until he retired in order to come to Prairie Chapel full time.

Rev. Ev spent more than 20 years in Lay Ministry, leading small groups, developing a worship and praise team and chairing various church committees. Rev. Ev and his wife, Melissa, a retired elementary school teacher, have two grown daughters.  Rev. Ev served for more than 2 years at Living Hope UMC in Norton OH before coming to us here at Prairie Chapel. His love of God is reflected in his dedication to the work of the church, his love of the people, and his joy and enthusiasm in serving.

Rev Ev’s favorites:

Bible verse:

Proverbs 3: 5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Devotional:

“My Utmost for His Highest”, Oswald Chambers

Quote:

"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."
     - John Wesley

Prayer:

The PRAYER OF ST FRANCIS

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.
