Greetings!
There’s still time to catch some of the Leonid meteor shower late this afternoon and early evening. If you’re lucky enough to find a dark place (preferably outdoors) you could see some celestial fireworks.
I was bemused in the choir loft more than once last Sunday when the sun broke through to illuminate the stained glass windows in the balcony. Too bad only the choir and the preacher can see this sight of God in all His glory – I’d be happy to signal the congregation when an especially fine display of colors appears.
Consecration Sunday produced joyful results -- full details will appear in the December newsletter.
Charlton Heston is waiting in the wings, ready to part the Red Sea for moviegoers. He will appear at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, in the sanctuary, courtesy of the Adult Fellowship. “The Ten Commandments” is free; there will be popcorn and cider at intermission. Attendees may wish to join the Adult Fellowship at Sergi’s after the movie.
Query: How many times has Charlton Heston parted the Red Sea since 1956 when the movie was made?
Just in time for Thanksgiving, the Potsdam Community Chorus presents “An American Thanksgiving,” featuring music from the folk and Sacred Harp tradition. The concert is at 3 p.m. on Sunday the 22nd, in Hosmer Hall on the SUNY Potsdam campus. BB and Martha Grow sing with this group; Martha also sings with the Ensemble on the concert program, and she is the creator of the beautiful poster hanging in Fellowship Hall.
Carrie and Glenn Livernois are the grandparents of a baby girl born to Scott Livernois and his wife.
PUMC choir member Arlene Babich performed a flute solo recently in a concert at St. Lawrence University.
Carl Seymour made a Veterans Day TV appearance on WWNY, talking with a fellow veteran about World War II experiences.
Shelly Murray is looking for a Santa suit for the Sunday School’s Christmas skit. If you have such an animal, please call her at 268-0913.
Prayers for the family of John Carey, who died on Sunday; for John Pelkey, who passed away recently; for Lyn Burkett, who has been fighting illness; for Janice Gonyeau, Jean Bronson, and Fred Wilder.
