The history of our church is best described by a poem written by :

" RUTH FRANKLIN "

" THE CHURCH IS THE PEOPLE "

The men and women who loved the Lord,

Back in eighteen ninety one,

Started our church at Poseyville

And we thank them, everyone.

They were building for the future

And their work has been well done.

There was no building, just the people

Who wished to spread the word,

So their children in coming years

Would also love the Lord,

and live together in a Christ like way

and keep moving forward.

They first met in the school but soon had a building

Of solid brick to last.

The people themselves did much of the work,

For the congregation grew fast

People working together,

Is our heritage from the past.

For more than seventy years the people met there.

Corner Brooks and Poseyville Roads

Children grew up hearing the word.

With the people sharing the load,

Worshiping God in the house they had built

and Proud of this sturdy abode.

Alas, the time came and we're proud that it did,

That the little brick church was too small.

The congregation had grown through these many years

That there was no longer room for them all.

So plans were made for the larger church

And they broke ground in the fall.

Again, working together with the Spirit of God

Guiding along the way.

A new church building began to take shape

Still building for a future day

So that our children may worship the Lord,

Could study and sing and pray.

So the dream of the past is being fulfilled,

And one hundred years have gone,

For Poseyville people still love the Lord

And are working together as one.

For God's work is never done.
